  1. Hispanic Professional Women's Association Holiday Celebration

    December 6, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM @ 4500 W. Cypress St.

    Feliz Navidad! HPWA is planning a very Latin beginning to December. We will be warming up the holidays with a special coffee tasting, led by Cappuccino Catering Company, as well as collecting canned goods and non-perishable items for local migrant families. We ask that all attendees bring at least one item. Members will also be selling holiday gifts, so make sure to RSVP so you can pick up those last minute gifts. If you would like to be a vendor for this event, please make sure your membership is up-to-date. Let Aubrey know you plan on selling.   1. Code Enforcement Special Magistrate Hearing for Community Codes

    December 6, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ County Center

    The Special Magistrate is authorized to hear violations concerning all codes and ordinances of Hillsborough County in order to maintain health and safety standards. Any person who decides to appeal the decision of the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate with respect to any matter considered at this meeting will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purposes, may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is based. An appeal must be filed within thirty (30) days after the execution of the Code Enforcement Special Magistrate’s Order.

  2. Economic Prosperity Stakeholder Committee Meeting

    December 6, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM @ 26th Floor Conference Room A & B

    The Hillsborough County Commissioners approved the creation of an Economic Prosperity Stakeholder Committee (EPSC) in March 2012 with the mission of examining the County’s regulatory structure and making recommendations to ease the burden and cost of regulatory oversight on economic development, while maintaining the County’s commitment to quality of life and responsible environmental stewardship. The Stakeholder Committee includes 21 members, who represent development and land use interests, minority communities, small businesses, and economic development and environmental interests. It is chaired by Commissioner Sandra Murman and vice-chaired by Commissioner Lesley “Les” Miller, Jr.

  4. Talk Trash Collection Public Meeting

    The way garbage, recyclables and yard waste are collected in unincorporated Hillsborough County could be changing in October 2013. The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners wants to know what residents think about the new garbage collection options. As the current solid waste contracts are almost 15 years old, Hillsborough County has asked for bids on four residential collection service options for garbage, recyclables, and yard waste.   5. Volunteer Transition Plan Public Meeting

    December 6, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM @ 98 1st Avenue N.W.

    This plan is the result of a Task Force was assembled after a Performance Audit report was presented to the Board on Sept. 19, 2012, to help shape a future volunteer model, evaluate the current program, and to propose options for the future. The committees of this Task Force included representatives from three volunteer associations, County staff, and other subject-matter experts. Two recruitment open houses are also scheduled for those interested in applying for the Reserve Responder Program. These recruitment events will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 & 15, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Hillsborough County Fire Rescue Headquarters, 2709 E. Hanna Ave. in Tampa.

  2. Adult Basketball League at University Area Community Park

    October 23 - December 23 @ University Area Recreation Center

    Registration going on now. Games: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.; Beginning, Tuesday, Oct. 23 Hillsborough County’s Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department is looking for players 16 years old or above to compete in a Full Court Basketball League.
