Grants

The Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Office (AHD) serves as the coordinator and administrator of State and Federal grants such as CDBG, HOME, ESG, HOPWA & SHIP. AHD receives approximately $15 million in allocations annually through these programs.

With these grants, we are able to provide funding for everything from better housing, youth mentoring, legal services, shelters for the homeless, and the installation of sidewalks & drainage. Regulations permit a wide range of service areas such as affordable housing and community redevelopment activities directed toward economic development, neighborhood revitalization and providing decent housing. Available grants support safe and sanitary affordable housing in the community to income-eligible households.

In addition AHD has an application process and provides assistance to non-profit agencies and developers with grant and/or loans for homelessness, job training, battered women, substance abuse prevention, and affordable housing. One of our goals is to provide housing services for low to moderate income families, minorities, and persons with disabilities. In addition to these services we also partner with private affordable housing providers to offer assistance to first-time home buyers and create opportunities to promote and expand equal and Fair Housing issues in Hillsborough County.

Hillsborough County’s partnership with the State and Federal government allows us to work in cooperation with our non-profit and for profit partners to improve the quality of life for all Hillsborough County residents.
