The Prosperity Campaign of Hillsborough County is a highly successful program that brings millions of dollars back to families and into the local economy! Hillsborough County Government is a key partner and funder of the campaign and the Department of Health & Social Services coordinates with the United Way, who is the lead partner to help make the campaign a success in Hillsborough County.

The Prosperity Campaign was established in 2004 through a collaboration of public, private, and nonprofit organizations to help families:

1. Learn, understand and claim Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and other
   
2. Access free, conveniently located quality tax preparation and electronic filing
   
3. Increase their financial stability by connecting them to financial education opportunities

Residents can have their federal income tax return prepared at no cost at any of neighborhood service centers administered by Health and Social Services. There are five local neighborhood service centers

Conveniently located throughout the county. The hours for tax assistance are available in the evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on the weekdays and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays at the neighborhood service centers.  In addition, United Way in coordination with other partners in Hillsborough County have many other conveniently located centers throughout Hillsborough County.  For other locations Visit the United Way website

IRS-certified preparers and trained volunteers at these sites will help residents complete the paperwork and electronically file their tax returns. Residents will be assisted as well in applying for the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, and other tax credits for which they are eligible.
