In 1979 he had a bit par in the film Quadrophemia. Was in the
movie Dune. Nicknamed Sting for the black and yellow sweater
he would wear while performing. He learned piano from his mother but
loved jazz and guitars. In 1977 he started the group Police.
The rock-reggae sound broke with Roxanne a song written as a
plea to a prostitute. It was subsequently banned from the BBC which
made it an instant hit. Later went solo and is successful first album
Dream of the Blue Turtles went Platinum.
