OWNER SURRENDER (County residents wishing to give up their owned pets.)
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 1 – 5 p.m.

All pets relinquished by their owners must be in compliance with the Hillsborough County ordinance ordinance for current rabies vaccination and registration tag, which is applicable to all dogs and cats four months or older. Residents not in compliance will need to visit the Animal Services customer service desk for necessary documents.

While Animal Services has a thriving pet adoption program, it is almost impossible to re-home all of the animals that come to the facility. Before making the decision to visit the County’s animal surrender gate, pet owners are encouraged to first look for suitable new homes through friends, relatives, local rescue groups and other shelters, such as The Humane Society of Tampa Bay.

To report a sick, injured, or bite animal after normal dispatching hours (between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, weekends, and County holidays), please call the department's emergency answering service at (813) 654-6006.
