Steps To Finding Quality Child Care

Call the local organization "Resource & Referral - Partners In Care" for a list of licensed
child care centers and family child care homes that meet your needs at (813) 744-8941.

Call and make an appointment to visit a few of the centers and/or homes. Bring your Checklist and
Questions lists, which are available on the Steps to Finding Quality Child Care page.

Visit the Child Care Licensing Office at between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Ask to see the licensing files of
your top two or three choices. An intake inspector is available to answer any questions you may
have. These files contain copies of past monitoring reports, complaints, investigations and other
reports relating to the legal operation of the center or home.

How to Report a Concern about Childcare

Before you call in a complaint about a center or family child care home, share your concern with the
center director or family child care home provider. Often open, positive communication can resolve a
small problem before it becomes a big problem. The brochures "Know Your Child's Child Care Center" and
"Know Your Child's Family Child Care Home," which are available through the Child Care Licensing
Office, can provide you with information on Hillsborough County's licensing rules.
