Programs and Services

A wide range of residential and non-residential services are available for children and parents. For emotionally handicapped youth, there are day treatment and residential care services designed to modify the behavior of emotionally dysfunctional children. For runaway and ungovernable children and their families, there are counseling services to reunite families and prevent runaway behavior, as well as short-term residential respite and shelter.

Emergency shelter care is available for dependent, abused, or neglected children. For long-term foster care of adolescent females, there is a pre-independent living group home program. Also, there are training classes for parents to improve parenting skills.

In-Home Respite Services for Children with Developmental Disabilities
The In-Home Respite Care Program provides short periods of time to the caregivers of non-medically complex, developmentally disabled children to permit them to take care of activities that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to accomplish while caring for their child. The activities may include anything from doctors visits to shopping to just remaining at home for rest and relaxation-there is no restriction on the way the caregiver uses the respite hours. The program allows for maximum amount of flexibility by allowing the respite to be provided in four to eight-hour blocks, and two to four at the convenience of the family.
