Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP) is taught nationally to parents of children of all ages. It emphasizes improving communication skills, understanding children's behavior, and discipline that makes sense, among other topics. The Parents Handbook by Dinkmeyer & McKay is the book required for the class. The book can be purchased over the Internet by going into STEPpublishers.com or you may call and order book at 1-800-720-1286. At Chamberlain High School, the book can be purchased for $14.90 the first night of class or Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. At Brandon High School, the book can be purchased for $14.90 in the school office the first night of class or Monday through Thursday from 1:00 – 9:00 p.m. The registration fee payable at the door on the first day/evening of class will be $36. There is no reduction in fees or fee waivers.
When you register for STEP classes, your name will be placed on a waiting list until a minimum of 12 people have registered for the class. When 12 or more people are registered, the class will be scheduled and all current registrants will be contacted with class times and location.
