Hillsborough County Commission Chair Ken Hagan, local mayors and representatives of local planning and transportation agencies will discuss Hillsborough Countys transportation and growth issues in a presentation to the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transportation Authority (TBARTA) Board next week. The presentation will be held on Monday, June 16, at 9 a.m. in the County Center, 26th Floor Conference Room, 601 E. Kennedy Blvd., downtown Tampa.
Commissioner Hagan, who is the Hillsborough County Commissions representative, will start the presentation and then provide a later discussion on transportation funding in Hillsborough County. Mayors Pam Iorio of the City of Tampa, Joe Affronti of the City of Temple Terrace, and Rick Lott of the City of Plant City also will speak, in addition to the heads of the Expressway Authority, Florida Department of Transportation District Seven, HART, Tampa International Airport and the Tampa Port Authority. Interim Executive Director Ray Chiaramonte of the Metropolitan Planning Authority also will give a presentation on the Countys land use patterns and growth challenges.

TBARTA Board members are visiting each county in the region to hear presentations regarding local transportation and growth issues, financial constraints, and transportation plans. The group is tasked with the development and implementation of regional transportation solutions, including the development of a comprehensive Regional Transportation Master Plan for Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties.
