Residents in unincorporated Hillsborough County may dispose of their Christmas trees by placing them at the curbside for pick-up with their normal yard waste. The trees will be picked up on their regular yard waste day. There is no time limit for when the trees have to be placed at the curbside following the holidays. Please remove all metal, decorations, lights and tree stands from the trees before pick-up. The trees will be turned into mulch, as is all yard waste by Hillsborough County.
Please be aware that the waste contractors are not required to pick up yard waste longer than four feet, so if you have a large tree, cut it into four foot lengths for pick-up. Otherwise if it is left intact, it is at the hauler's discretion to pick it up. If you have a larger tree, you also can deliver it to one of the County's yard waste processing facilities. These facilities are located at:
--Northwest County Facility, 8001 W. Linebaugh Ave., Tampa, Phone: 264-3816
--South County Facility, 13000 U.S. 41 north of Big Bend Road, Gibsonton, Phone: 671-7611
--Resource Recovery Facility, 350 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, Phone: 744-5591
All facilities are open Monday - Saturday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The facilities will be open on New Year's Eve.
Residents can call the Solid Waste Management Department at 272-5680 with any questions or concerns.
