Extension Offers Financial, Nutrition and Parenting Workshops in October
 
Hillsborough County Extension Service will offer a variety of workshops throughout the month of October. All classes will take place at Extension's office location, 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner.

To register for these classes, or for more information, residents should call 813-744-5519.

Parenting Classes

These classes will cover parent/child communication, effective parenting styles, enhancing a child's self esteem, positive discipline, stress management and helping children succeed in school. Classes are free and open to the public, but registration is required.

  • Tuesdays, Oct. 13, 20 & 27, 10 a.m. - noon
  • Financial Management Classes - Strategies and Tools for Effective Money Management

    Pre-registration is required. Participants must pay a $2 seat deposit for each class or $5 for the entire series, which will be refunded upon successful completion of the class/series. Class schedule:

  • Developing a financial Plan: Thursday, Oct. 15, 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Evaluating Credit Offers: Thursday, Oct. 22, 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Credit Reports & Scores, Debt Management Strategies: Thursday, Oct. 29, 6 - 8 p.m.
  • Home Canning of Sweets, Pickles & Fruits

    Preserve fruits, pickle vegetables or sweeten the kitchen table! Whether homegrown or purchased, learn how to preserve produce at their peak of freshness for enjoyment later. Pre-registration is required. A $5 fee will be collected at the door per person or per family to cover the cost of materials used in the class.

  • Monday, Oct. 26, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.
  • Hillsborough County Extension provides information and education in family and consumer sciences, horticulture, agriculture, natural resources, public policy and youth development. It also administers the 4-H program, Summer Youth Environmental and Nutrition Day Camps, Master Volunteers and Master Gardener programs, and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education program for limited-income families. Extension education is a partnership of Hillsborough County, University of Florida - Institute of Food & Agricultural Sciences, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
