Locations throughout Hillsborough County
More than 175 students and adults with disabilities will have a chance to shadow business mentors and gain hands-on experience in the work place during Hillsborough County?s annual Disability Mentoring Day. This event also promotes the importance of developing the necessary skills and experiences these mentees need to compete in today's workforce.
More than 30 public/private employers--including Hillsborough County government, Tampa General Hospital, WEDU (public television) and WMNF (public radio)--will participate as mentors. Mentees will learn about the day-to-day responsibilities, and skills and education needed for the career that interests them.
Disability Mentoring Day is held in October to coincide with National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Last year, Disability Mentoring Day integrated more than 20,000 students and jobseekers in communities in every state, as well as 20 international sites. Hillsborough County has participated since 2003.
