Tourist Development Council

It also makes recommendations to the Commissioners for developing tourism in the area.

Membership

The members of this Council shall be appointed by the BOCC and shall be comprised of 11 members. Composition is specified as follows:

• Elected Officials - Total of 4
• County Commissioner - Chair of the BOCC automatically serves as Chair
• City of Tampa
• City of Temple Terrace
• City of Plant City
• Hotel/Motel Industry Reps - No less than 3 and no more than 4
• Tourist-Related Industry Reps - No less than 3 and no more than 4
• This includes owners or operators of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks, or other tourist accommodations in the County and subject to a tourist development tax.

Terms

Members shall serve four year terms.

Special requirements

Tourist related industry members must be involved in tourism related businesses or venues.

Florida Statutes, 125.0104 (1978); Hillsborough County Ordinance 78-10 and 80-7; HB 867, in 2001 increased membership from nine members to eleven members.

Quarterly, 10:30 AM to Noon, and as called by Chair
County Center, 2nd Floor Boardroom
