Classified Jobs are covered by
the Florida Law that empowers the Hillsborough County Civil Service Board
(Chapter 2000-445, Laws of Florida) and the Rules the Board implements.
Employees in Classified Jobs can appeal dismissals and some other management
actions to the Civil Service Board.
Approximately 9,000 of the total 9,600 regular full-time Hillsborough
County employees are in Classified Jobs. Classified Jobs cover a very
wide range of job duties and responsibilities. Starting pay for Classified
Jobs ranges from approximately $6.47 per hour to over $32.00 per hour.

Unclassified
(Management) Job Opportunities
You apply for Unclassified County Jobs through the Human Resources or
Personnel Office of the individual Agency with the vacancy. The Civil
Service Office is not involved in any aspect of the recruitment, interviewing,
or hiring for Unclassified Jobs. Click here

Unclassified Jobs are exempt from
the Florida Law that empowers the Hillsborough County Civil Service Board
(Chapter 96-519, Laws of Florida) and the Rules the Board implements.
Employees in Unclassified Jobs serve at the will of their employer and
can not appeal any management action to the Civil Service Board. Otherwise,
Unclassified Employees enjoy very similar conditions and benefits of employment
as do Classified Employees.
Approximately 500 of the total
8,900 regular full-time Hillsborough County employees are in Unclassified

Internship Opportunities
You apply for Internship positions through the individual
Agency with the vacancy. An internship is considered a temporary position.
The Civil Service Office or the Human Resources Department is not involved
in any aspect of the recruitment, interviewing, or hiring for Internship.
No benefits, paid holidays, vacation or sick time is provided. Interns
are only paid for the hours worked. While employed as a temporary employee
or intern, the same county policies/procedures apply to the temporary/intern,
as apply to other county employees.
