Hillsborough County Aging Services’ Giving Tree – Hillsborough County Aging Services begins its annual Giving Tree Campaign on Nov. 30 and collects items for low-income, home-bound seniors through Dec. 14. Gifts are distributed by Aging Services during the holiday season. Pick a gift tag from holiday trees at 10 locations throughout the county. Tags suggest the gifts seniors with limited resources most urgently need. In keeping with the holiday season, please return gifts in a gift bag or basket. During the hectic holidays it is especially important to safeguard one’s health and well-being. This month, each center offers special activities and events that offer mental and physical strategies to remain healthy and happy. Topics range from the educational to the inspirational.Flu + You Expo
Hillsborough County’s annual Flu + You drive is a partnership with the National Council on Aging that provides flu education and emphasizes the importance of immunizations, especially for older adults. Looking to volunteer? Aging Services Nutrition sites located throughout Hillsborough County are seeking Food Service Assistant Volunteers to assist in serving hot, nutritious midday meals to citizens 60 and older. Volunteer benefits include flexible schedule, engagement with seniors in a fun, social environment, and the opportunity to impact the community in a positive way.
