Job Fair Continues to Put People Back to Work

Hillsborough County, Fla. (Nov. 7, 2016) - Nearly 750 people attended the County Job Fair on November 4th at the Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry Campus in Tampa.

The event, hosted by Hillsborough County Commissioner Sandy Murman, in association with CareerSource Tampa Bay and Hillsborough Community College, drew 55 employers and vendors, some of whom interviewed potential employees on the spot, while others provided online links to hundreds of jobs.

"Employers such as Amazon, Mosaic, BayCare Health System, Busch Gardens, Cognizant and Hillsborough County had an opportunity to see hundreds of qualified people looking for work from all over our county," said Commissioner Murman.

Immediately following the job fair at HCC, job seekers could access the jobs offered by all of the employers online from anywhere, and for those who did not have immediate access to computers or the Internet, they could go to any Hillsborough County Library to use an available public computer to access the jobs.

"The Virtual Job Fair offered both employers and job seekers across the county more opportunities and options," said Commissioner Murman. "Some people might not be able to get to the job fair location, so this was another way to connect employers with potential employees."

Murman said that by posting the employers and jobs available in advance, the response was overwhelming. "The results we got back and the response was overwhelmingly positive and people felt like it was really about the quality of employers we got there."

"It was very successful and we're very happy we're getting people back to work," Murman said.
