Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

National Holiday Observed Monday, Jan. 16

There are many events, celebrations, and activities happening around Hillsborough County to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, leading up to the national observance on Jan. 16.

  • 31st Annual Plant City Martin Luther King, Jr. Cultural Arts Festival: Jan. 6 - 21

 The Plant City Cultural Arts Festival features a variety of family-oriented activities and provides an all-inclusive setting in which people of every ethnic background can experience and celebrate the contributions of African Americans to the culture of Hillsborough County and West Central Florida.

  • 17th Annual Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival: Jan. 12 - 22

The Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival is a 10-day celebration featuring live entertainment, cultural events, and business seminars. Attend a free financial seminar on Jan. 20 at the Hillsborough County Entrepreneur Collaborative Center. Visit the festival website for other events and activities happening during the festival.

  • 28th Annual MLK Jr. Day Parade "Making the Dream a Reality": Jan. 16

The MLK Day parade is family-friendly, entertaining, and fun. It's also an opportunity to recognize the business, social, and community groups, while supporting a common cause. Parade route begins at 15th Street and 21st Avenue, North to MLK Blvd., proceeding East to 15th and MLK Blvd.

  • East Tampa Business and Civic Association 7th Annual Community Festival: Jan. 16

The 7th Annual Community Festival will feature entertainment, food vendors, a car show, gospel music, a kid's village and arts and crafts. Other events include a financial literacy workshop on Jan. 14.
