Senior Prom for Young at Heart
These senior prom attendees weren't wrapping up their high school years. There were no curfews, anxious parents, or reports of spiked punch.
Still, people dressed to the nines, took lots of photographs, and danced. Wow, did they dance.
Couples and groups of singles filled the hardwood floor at The Regent, in Riverview, on June 22 to twirl, boogie, and line dance. Sponsored by Hillsborough County Aging Services, the annual Senior Prom is for people ranging in age from 50 into their 90s.
About 300 participants joined their friends and partners for the 3½-hour soirée. Some dressed in keeping with the theme of this year's prom, "Paradise in the Orient."

Like any prom, the outing included the crowning of a king and queen. This year's royalty: King Tom Wong from Brandon Senior Center, and Queen Patricia Roth from Wimauma Senior Center.
All agreed, this much fun was worth the wait. And the best thing about Aging Services' senior prom? Everyone will be invited again next year.
