Scholarships Available to Help Reach Educational Goals

Students can receive up to $5,000 to help pay for post-secondary education costs

The Community Action Board Scholarship Program is now accepting new applications for the 2018 program.

For the seventh year in a row, the Hillsborough County Social Services Department and Community Action Board are helping students reach their educational goals without having to worry about the financial burden. The CAB Scholarship Program looks to award a record number of scholarships in 2018 that will help change the lives of even more Hillsborough County students by assisting with post-secondary education tuition.

Scholarships are awarded to both high school and college students, and recipients are selected based on thorough evaluations of their application materials. Criteria used to evaluate applicants includes community service and school involvement, application and additional letters of recommendation, academic record, essay response, and panel interview participation.

Eligibility requirements include:

  • The candidate must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Applicants must reside in Hillsborough County
  • The applicant's household income must fall within 125 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines

In 2017, 83 CAB scholarships were awarded to Hillsborough County students with 46 of those being first-time recipients.
