Support Services Mission Statement
Our role is to support the agencies and departments that provide services to and interact with our ultimate customers, the citizens of our community. We deliver facilities support services with demonstrated cost effectiveness – ensuring clean, comfortable, safe and healthy environments.
Integrated Pest Management Services
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is the judicious use and integration of various pest control tactics in ways that compliment and facilitate the biological and other natural controls of pests to meet economic, public health and environmental goals. Wherever applicable, IPM uses scouting, pest trapping, sanitation/hygiene enhancements, physical and mechanical controls, facility maintenance practices, biological controls and when absolutely necessary, precise timing and application of any needed pesticides.
With IPM, the decision to use pesticides is made when an action threshold for a pest is reached and no other alternative management methods are available that will provide effective control. When pesticides are needed, the safest and most effective materials are selected for use. The goals of IPM are to achieve effective management of pests with the least possible hazard to people, property and the environment. The use of IPM techniques requires more time and patience than traditional pesticide spraying/application methods. Please allow 5 – 7 days after treatment of a specific problem for optimal effectiveness.
Facilities Support Services currently provides IPM services at 207 properties and 3.25 million square feet of space. Typically, each facility is serviced monthly with our larger and specialized buildings receiving more frequent services. Please utilize the Facilities Management Services Work Order entry system to initiate a call-back if problems arise between visits or if an issue persists beyond a reasonable time as described above. You may also contact Valarie Dennis, Work Control Coordinator at (813)272-5112 to initiate your request.
