Administrative Division
 

Administrative Branch

The Administrative Branch is commanded by Deputy Chief - Administration, David Travis. In addition to the two sections listed below, the administrative branch is tasked with coordinating with the Fleet Management Department to assure all of the over two-hundred vehicles used by the department are maintained at a high level of operational readiness. This branch is involved with working with the end users, Fleet Department and the Procurement Department in development of vehicle specifications.

Fiscal Services Section

This section provides departmental support in the functional areas of accounting/budgeting, billing/insurance claims, and reception. The Accounting Team is responsible for maintaining the correct balance in the accounts receivable system and tracks all fiscal transactions, including bank deposits, cash payments, and refunds. The team also tracks current budget expenditures, balances, and projects expenditures for the department's $113 million + annual budget. The Billing and Claims Team processes approximately 32,000 transports annually. In conjunction with the contracted billing company, they manage all ambulance transport and response accounts. The revenue generated through the efforts of the team accounts for approximately $6 million in annual collections.

Logistics Section

This section is responsible for three very important functions: facility maintenance, technology/inventory and supply.

The Facility side of this section's responsibility consists of providing routine and emergency maintenance to 46 separate stations/locations. This includes 42 fire stations, 2 stand alone rescue stations, and two office complexes (Hanna Avenue and 78th Street).

The Technology/Inventory side of this section is tasked with maintaining the computer systems that are unique to fire rescue (Fire, Prevention and EMS Records Management Systems, and AVL), as well as the tracking of the millions of dollars worth of capital/sensitive inventory.

The Supply side of this section is charged with the responsibility to purchase, warehouse, inventory and deliver all medical, pharmaceutical, firefighting, equipment maintenance and janitorial equipment and supplies required by the fire and rescue operation's personnel. They also maintain supplies required for the operation of the office complexes. Section personnel are on call for weekend or after hours emergencies, mass casualty incidents, etc. to provide support as needed.
