The Emergency Dispatch Communications Center is responsible for answering and processing 9-1-1 emergencies, as well as, non-emergency fire and medical related calls. The center is also responsible for dispatching emergency fire and medical units to the scene of emergencies and public service requests.
In the event that you have to dial 9-1-1 to report an emergency, remember the following:

- Remember to stay calm!
- Always know where you are and the telephone number you are calling from. If you are unsure of the exact address, try to recall the closest cross streets or business name, or if you are at a residence, look for a piece of mail. Remember: if you are unsure, ask someone around you where you are. This will help responding units be able to find you in a timely manner!
- Be sure to listen closely to the 9-1-1 dispatcher. They will have very specific questions to ensure that the proper, most appropriate help is being sent.
- Remember to follow all directions closely.
- Keep your eyes open! You maybe asked to describe certain things to assist the dispatcher.
- Never hang up! Even if you call 9-1-1 by mistake, stay on the line and let the 9-1-1 dispatcher know that there is no assistance needed. If you hang up before letting the dispatcher know there is not an emergency, then there is a good chance that an emergency vehicle will be sent to the area to check for an emergency.
