A 3 Fire Night in Carollwood

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. - March 4, 2008

What: Structure Fires

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was on the scene of three unrelated structures last night/early this morning.

The first fire was at 11:57 p.m. at 3202 Colwell Av. Carrollwood Station Apartments. This was a single alarm response with three engines, one ladder truck, a Battalion Chief, and a rescue car. There were 16 personnel on scene and an investigator. The fire was on the second floor of an apartment building and confined to the room of origin specifically a bedroom closet.

A suspect was taken into custody by Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office and charged with Domestic Violence/Battery and False Imprisonment. He was also charged with Arson by our investigator.

The people that lived in the apartment were displaced into another apartment in the complex; there were no injuries.

The second fire occurred at 1239 at 7349 W Pocahontas, a two story residential home in Town and Country around 12:30 a.m. The home was unoccupied and unsecured; no one was home or injured.

The fire started on the second floor and was through the roof on arrival of a single alarm response. HCFR had five engines, one ladder, two chiefs, one rescue and an air truck on scene with a total of 25 personnel.

The fire was determined to be arson and is still under investigation by HCFR investigators.

The third fire was a single alarm response to 4815 Sierra Madre in the Town and Country area at 3:29 a.m. The fire was confined to the living room specifically to a couch although the home was heavily damaged with smoke.

The owner was home alone and asleep in his bedroom. He was awakened by the smoke alarm and escaped through his bedroom window uninjured. He was able to stay in an apartment attached to the home.

There were three engines, one ladder, a Battalion Chief, and a rescue car on scene with a total of 18 personnel.
The cause is listed as unintentional.
