HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. - May 1, 2008 3:20 PM

Brush Fire

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue units responded to a brush fire at Forbes Rd. and Dr Martin Luther King in Dover. The fire, approximately 15 acres, was located in a rural area near a chicken farm and sparsely populated homes.

A total of 14 units, 30 firefighters and the Division of Forestry were on scene at 1:30 p.m. and had the fire 100% contained in 2 hours. Crews remain on scene ensuring the fire completely extinguished.

A total of 10 homes were evacuated as a precaution because of changing winds directions. One storage shed was damaged by fire, approximately 10' X 10', containing lawn equipment.
