Pediatric Near Drowning
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL. - June 20, 2009 3:53 PM What: Pediatric Drowning When: 1526 (dispatch time) Hillsborough County Fire Rescue units responded to Citrus Village Drive at the Citrus Village Apartments, Clubhouse Pool for a report of a pediatric drowning in the pool.
Initial reports to the dispatch center indicated bystander provided CPR in- progress. On arrival, HCFR Rescue 13 found that a trained bystander had performed approximately one minute of rescue breathing and resuscitated a pediatric patient. The identity of the rescuer is unknown. Fire Rescue Officer Michael Brown reported that positive patient outcome is a direct result of the trained bystanders "wonderful job of caring for the patient" as well as that same civilian rescuer's ability to give a cogent account of events that had occurred. One pediatric patient was transported by HCFR Rescue 13 to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Due to HIPPA concerns, patient information will not be released by this office. ### Contact: Chief Craig Lynn, Shift Commander, HCFR Cell: 813-393-9544 http://www.hillsboroughcounty.org/firerescue/press/ Hillsborough County Fire Rescue 2709 E.
