Bob Stanton has been the Director of Fleet Management for Polk County for the past eighteen years.  Prior to Polk County he spent 18 years in private fleet management primarily with two Fortune 50 corporations, Pepsi Cola and UPS.   Bob is past President of the Florida Association of Governmental Fleet Administrators, has spoken for several industry and trade groups nationwide.  He received the “Excellence in Supervision Award” from the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Assn, the first time in their 60 year history the award has been given to a local government fleet manager.  He’s the only three time recipient of the Bell Canada/Goill Award for Fleet Innovation.   Polk County Fleet Mgmt. was ranked #3 in the 100 Best Fleets in America (2010) and has attained the ASE Blue Seal of Excellence for the past 8 consecutive years.  Polk’s fleet has received award recognitions from the Kennedy School of Government (Harvard Univ.), ICMA, NACO and APWA.   He is the only government member of Ford Motor Company’s Fleet Advisory Board.  Bob received his BA from Mercer University, his Public Management certification from Florida State University, and his CPFP from the American Public Works Association.

A Valrico resident for 30 years, Bob’s son Rob is a West Point graduate currently serving as a Major in the Army, his daughter Kathy and her family reside in Atlanta.
