“Green Hillsborough” is not just a slogan, it’s a way of doing business for Hillsborough County. For years, Hillsborough County government has been making strides to protect the local environment and reduce its energy needs. Many departments have undertaken efforts, such as the Public Works Department’s current program to replace all traffic light bulbs with LED lights, and Fleet Management’s purchase of 13 hybrid vehicles, to help make this a reality. Click on the department and agency names on the left-hand side of the page to learn more.
This webpage chronicles the County’s green efforts, and will be updated periodically, when new programs come online. We encourage our residents to learn how they can “reduce, recycle and reuse” in their daily lives. Check out some of the Energy Conservation Tips recommended by the County’s Energy Conservation Manager.
