Hand Sanitizer Ordinance

Hillsborough County has an on ordinance that recognizes the importance of hand hygiene and is playing a leading role in the fight against bacteria and infections.

Requirements
Ordinance 06-23 requires portable restrooms and mobile restroom trailers in Hillsborough County to have an operable hand sanitation dispenser and liquid inside the facility or outside in an immediately adjacent area.

If the hand sanitizer dispenser becomes inoperable, free-standing dispensers of hand sanitizer liquid mustshall be placed in each portable restroom.

Fines
Violations to this ordinance can be prosecuted in the same manner as misdemeanors, and the penalty of failing to comply with this ordinance could be as much as $1,000 per day for each day the violation exists.

Responsibility
The responsible party can be any person or entity, whether an owner, lessee, contractor or other responsible person, who exercises control over, or responsibility for, the placement of portable restrooms or mobile restroom trailers in Hillsborough County, including but not limited to, a sSpecial eEvent oOrganizer and the portable restroom service provider, contractor, or owner.

Special Event Organizers
Event coordinators must file a copy of their signed contract fromof their portable restroom service company with Hillsborough County Code Enforcement prior to the start of a special event using portable restrooms in unincorporated Hillsborough County.
