Admissions
In order to enroll in Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start, the family of an infant, toddler or child must be working (25 hours or more per week) or be enrolled in school or in a job training program. In addition, the household must also meet the current Federal Poverty Guidelines.
 

You may be eligible for this program if you:Admission

  • Are employed at least 25 hours per week or enrolled in school/job training full time
  • Are homeless
  • Are a military family
  • Receive public assistance (SSI, TANF or Subsidized Child Care)
  • Meet the Federal Poverty Guidelines for income
  • Have a child who has been diagnosed with an impairment affecting the child’s ability to learn

Additionally, eligibility for Head Start program:
Have a child who was 3 years old before September 1, 2010

Additionally, eligibility for Early Head Start program:
Have a child between 6 weeks and 23 months

Additionally, eligibility for Expectant Parent Program:
Are a pregnant mother in her 1st or 2nd trimester.

Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start over income slots will be for Children with a Diagnosed Disability,
and must be approved by the ERSEA supervisor.



Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start is always accepting application packets. Applications are available online, at any Head Start or Early Head Start center as well as the central office. Once the application is completed, please either mail it or bring it to the closest HS center to you, or the Administration Office which is located at 3639 W. Waters Avenue, Suite 500, Tampa, FL 33614. It will then be forwarded to a senior case manager who screens the application for eligibility. Families are then notified of the eligibility and if there are no vacancies, the eligible child is placed on a rank ordered waiting list and notified of a vacancy when one occurs.
