- In March 2009, the Southern Organization for Human Services honored Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start with its Angels in the Field Award. This marked the first time in its history that a Head Start program has been recognized with this honor.
- Louis A. Finney, Jr., the Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start Director was recognized with the 2007-2008 Leadership Award from the Florida Head Start Association.
- In February 2009, the Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start Program received the Florida Head Start Association’s Oral Health Award.
- The 2008 Child Outcomes Report shows that Hillsborough County Head Start children consistently achieve higher gains than the national averages.
- The 2008 Head Start Self-Assessment (Internal Audit) revealed the program was 100% in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- In 2007, Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start was found to be in full compliance from a 3 year audit by the United States, Department of Health and Human Services, The program, as a result, is considered a Gold Seal High Quality Head Start Program.
- The 2007 audit of the program's food and nutrition program by the USDA revealed no findings-a perfect score.
- The Hillsborough County Head Start/Early Head Start Program is now a four-time winner of the National Head Start Association’s Program of Excellence Award.
- The program was recognized in 2006 as the only Grantee in the country that was simultaneously awarded the Quality Initiative Award for its Grantee operated program and its delegate, Hillsborough County Public Schools.
- In 2003, the National Association of Counties (NACO) awarded Hillsborough County the “Counties Care for Kids” award for the Head Start/Early Head Start Program.
- Forty-seven sites are accredited through NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), a prestigious accreditation for quality early child care and education or NAFCC (National Association of Family Child Care).
- Satisfaction surveys revealed that 97% of parents rated the program positively regarding treatment and care of their children and families.
