III. Guidelines for Performance Management Behaviors - Innovation
 

Degree to which the individual assumes new challenges and increased responsibility. Can be relied upon to accept responsibility for assignment completion responding with creative solutions. Seeks out and pursues opportunities for helping others see new possibilities. Works independently, accepts responsibility, uses independent judgment and incorporates creativity in business dealings and deliverables as appropriate.

Shows little initiative, but generally waits for others to
identify how to respond to tasks. Occasionally requires follow up. At times will ask a question that make others see things differently, but is inconsistent in this approach. Occasionally comes up with unconventional workable ideas. Seldom inspires others to take appropriate risks.
3 Needs little or no direction to pursue tasks in own area of
responsibility. Seldom needs follow-up. Seeks out opportunities to help others see new possibilities. Successfully inspires others to take positive risks using creative means.
4 Frequently seeks out and undertakes new assignments
within as well as outside area of responsibility. Goes well beyond required results. Seeks out and pursues opportunities for asking questions that make others see things differently resulting in new possibilities. Consistently inspires others to take positive risks using creative means.
5 Continually seeks opportunities to improve results. Acts
independently and constantly seeks added responsibility as well as inspires others. Encourages unconventional ideas from others. Achieves high degree of success inspiring others to take positive risks using creative means.
