III. Guidelines for Performance Management Behaviors - Leadership
 

Degree of responsibility that an individual has for leading or coordinating employees. A demonstration of ethics and integrity, trustworthiness, and courage while setting high standards, clear goals, and driving for results.

Does not take on responsibility for other employees. Gives up when difficulties arise rather than taking initiative when unexpected problems occur. Looses energy/interest before a project is completed. Can not be counted on to produce quality products or services.

Checks the work of other employees and/or assists in training employees as requested. Sometimes follows through on assignments to ensure completeness when asked. Produces products or services that are of low quality. Often blames others for problems.

Takes on responsibility for coordinating work flow with other departments, divisions, or outside organizations. Assists in training employees. Delegates work assignments appropriately. Takes initiative when unexpected problems or opportunities arise. Follows through on assignments to ensure successful completion. Can be counted on to produce quality products or services on time. Does not blame others for problems that arise.

Takes on responsibility for coordinating work flow as well as assigning work to other employees and follow up on completion. Trains employees as needed. Takes initiative when unexpected problems occur. Follows through on assignments relentlessly to ensure successful completion. Can be counted on to produce high-quality products or services on or ahead of time. Finds resourceful or creative solutions to problems.

Takes on responsibility for coordinating work flow as well as assigning work for other employees and following up on completion; arranging for training; and maintaining work flow within the assigned unit. Persists in the face of obstacles and does not give up when difficulties arise. Has established a definite direction and purpose for the work that he or she does. Can always be counted on to produce high-quality products or services on or ahead of time. Finds resourceful and/or creative problems applying the most appropriate alternative.
