Local Formulary

The local Ryan White pharmacy program is funded by Ryan White Part A, Part B, and General Revenue funds, with an annual budget exceeding $1,000,000.  There are currently no restrictions on the local formulary, except for over the counter medications (OTC’s) which were excluded effective February 2, 2011 with the exception of diabetic supplies.   The Care Council through the Health Services Advisory Committee continue to closely monitor the local formulary, since it is an integral part of the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) which now has a restricted formulary as cost containment measure.  The current ADAP formulary can be accessed here through the following link:

Case managers must aggressively pursue patient assistance programs (PAP’s) when available. Exceptions will be approved and reviewed on a case by case basis, using the anti-retroviral exception request form.  It is policy to not commence a treatment regimen using the local pharmacy program unless another payment source (such as Medicaid) has been verified.
