Community Investment Tax
The Community Investment Tax is a half-penny sales tax approved by voters in September 1996. Twenty-five percent of the revenue collected from this tax is designated for the construction of new public school facilities.

Over the past 13 years, the Community Investment Tax has generated $1.2 billion to fund a wide range of improvements that will greatly benefit our community. It is anticipated that the tax will generate approximately $4.7 billion over its 30-year life. The funds are and will be used for capital improvement projects throughout Hillsborough County, including the cities of Tampa, Plant City, and Temple Terrace in the following areas:

  • Community stadiums
  • Education
  • Government facilities
  • Libraries
  • Museums 
  • Parks
  • Public safety
  • Reclaimed water
  • Stormwater
  • Transportation
  • Wastewater
  • Water
