Overview
Hillsborough County Health Care Plan (HCHCP) is a comprehensive managed care program for Hillsborough County residents with limited income and assets who do not qualify for other health care coverage, including Medicare and Medicaid. The program is funded by a special sales tax and administered by the Hillsborough County government and Health Care Services. 

Coverage Information
HCHCP covers primary and specialty care, inpatient and outpatient treatment, pharmaceuticals, and other services that are medically necessary. There are no premium payments for HCHCP, however, there are some member co-payments for certain services such as prescriptions. The plan is designed especially for residents of Hillsborough County with limited income and assets.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, the person must:
  • Be a resident of Hillsborough County
  • Be a U.S. citizen or a documented legal resident of the U.S.
  • Have income and assets that are at 100 percent or below the federal poverty guidelines
  • Not be eligible for any other health care coverage, including Medicare and Medicaid
