Have a Disaster Supply Kit
Keep enough supplies in your home to survive on your own, or shelter in place, for at least three days. If possible, keep these materials in an easily accessible, separate container or special cupboard. You should indicate to your household members that these supplies are for emergencies only. Check expiration dates of food and update your kits when you change your clock during daylight-saving times.

  • Water - One gallon of drinking water per person per day (at least a 3-day supply per person)
  • Food - Non-perishable, ready-to-eat (at least a 3-day supply per person)
  • Non-electric can opener
  • Medications - 7-days supply and necessary medical items
  • First aid kit
  • Flashlight
  • Extra batteries
  • Battery-operated or hand-crank AM/FM radio, NOAA All-hazards radio
  • Personal hygiene items: soap, feminine hygiene products, toothbrush and toothpaste, etc.
  • Phone that does not rely on electricity
  • Baby supplies or other special care items (formula, bottles, food, diapers)
  • Family & emergency contact information
  • Copies of keys and personal documents
  • Cell phone with charger
  • Extra cash
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen
  • Maps of the area
