The Public Works Department is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation systems and stormwater systems for the residents of unincorporated Hillsborough County.


Public Works' Services Include:

• Oversight of all major County planning, engineering design, and construction projects that include roads, bridges, intersections, sidewalks, storm water and trails
  
  
• Maintenance of County rights of way and storm water drainage systems
   
  
• Minor construction projects, pothole repair, roadway shoulder maintenance, roadside ditch and canal cleaning, and tree trimming
  
  
• Mosquito control and roadside/major canals herbicide programs
  
  
• Inspection, repair and maintenance of the County's 250 bridges  
  
  
• Operation, placement, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including traffic signals/controllers, pavement markings, school zone signalization, and street and speed signs
  
  
• Stormwater water quality and education efforts, including Adopt-A-Pond and the Lake Management Program
  
  
• Natural Hazard Planning efforts that seek to reduce the impacts of flooding and other natural hazards
