Public Works
The Public Works Department is responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation systems and stormwater systems for the residents of unincorporated Hillsborough County.
Public Works' Services Include:
- Oversight of all major County planning, engineering design, and construction projects that include roads, bridges, intersections, sidewalks, storm water and trails
- Maintenance of County rights of way and storm water drainage systems
- Minor construction projects, pothole repair, roadway shoulder maintenance, roadside ditch and canal cleaning, and tree trimming
- Mosquito control and roadside/major canals herbicide programs
- Inspection, repair and maintenance of the County's 250 bridges
- Operation, placement, maintenance, and repair of traffic control devices, including traffic signals/controllers, pavement markings, school zone signalization, and street and speed signs
- Stormwater water quality and education efforts, including Adopt-A-Pond and the Lake Management Program
- Natural Hazard Planning efforts that seek to reduce the impacts of flooding and other natural hazards
