- The Hillsborough Delegation provides a diversified number of services, both to the members of the Delegation and their staff and to the public. Staff in the office:
- works closely with the members of the Delegation and their staff (including staff development workshops) to assist them and enhance their efforts in further serving the people of Hillsborough County. The central office provides a continuum as Legislators move in and out of elective office as a result of term limits, the will of the voters, a desire to end public service voluntarily, or, occasionally, by the death of a member.
- responds to constituents who represent individual, professional, business, and public sector interests to:
- provide information and assistance in the legislative process;
- assist in the resolution of problems involving government services ( federal, state, and
local );
- identify and provide printed materials including creating and providing reference sources
( the most well known of which are "Answers" and "Agencies" which are also on the Delegation's Web site
); and
- provide educational services in assisting people work more effectively with the legislators and the Legislature.
- manages the development of local bills destined for the state legislature from local development (conceptual design, research, consultation and coordination, writing, scheduling hearings, amending, advertising, filing, securing support documentation) through the state legislative process (extensive coordination with committee staff and the Governor's office) and finally to documentation of final status; and
- develops and manages the Delegation�s two economic development functions annually: "Flavors of Hillsborough," held annually (when economic conditions permit) on the Senate Portico in Tallahassee and the Delegation�s �session brochure� which is distributed throughout the legislative buildings during the annual session to facilitate visitors to the Capitol in quickly locating the Hillsborough Legislators and, unlike other �session brochures,� features information about the pluses of living in or visiting Hillsborough County.
