What is the difference between a legislator and a congressperson?: Legislators (called Senators and Representatives) represent citizens in matters relating to state government and conduct their official business in Tallahassee. Members of Congress (called Senators and Representatives or Congresspersons) serve the citizens on federal issues and conduct their official business in Washington, D.C. Each state is represented by two U.S. Senators and by the number of congresspersons to which it is entitled based on the decennial census. Florida has a Congressional Delegation of 27.
