Mission Statement

This office is a liaison between the county and the African-American community, advocates their concerns and coordinates efforts to identify, address and resolve problems. It assists in the delivery of services designed to meet the needs of African-American residents. This liaison also works within County government as a consultant to various departments in issues pertaining to the different cultures and diverse communities they serve.

The African-American Affairs Liaison hosts a yearly celebration to bring together the community and government, commemorate diversity and bring in the private sector as sponsoring partners. The "African-American Celebration" is held in February, usually at Joe Chillura Courthouse Square, in front of County Center in downtown Tampa.
