Mission Statement

Create and maintain public/private partnerships and encourage collaboration to advance common interests of the adult and juvenile criminal justice systems while achieving the County’s crime reduction goals.

 
 
Currently Funded Projects


Community Anti-Gang Initiative -
Hillsborough County is receiving $2.25 million of federal grant funds from the Bureau of Justice Administration (BJA) through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to reduce gang crime and violence. The three strategies are:

Prosecution/enforcement to reduce the occurrence of violent, gang-related incidents through both reactive and proactive efforts supported by federal, state, and local law enforcement and enhanced penalties.

Prevention the "GANG OUT" program is for at-risk youth residing in hot spot neighborhoods, ages 7 to 14, to reduce the occurrence of gang involvement through targeted, evidence based gang prevention. Offender Re-entry to increase public safety by reducing recidivism rates among high-impact and gang involved offenders returning to the community from prison. For more information contact the Anti-Gang Re-entry Coordinator at (813) 276-8336.


SAMH Corp

Criminal Justice Reinvestment Grant, Hillsborough County is receiving a grant funded through the Department of Children and Families for people with substance abuse and mental health illness. Further information TBA.

Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay Inc. – (http://www.crimestopperstb.com) Hillsborough County is receiving funds from the State Attorney General’s Office. Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips and pays rewards for tips that result in apprehension. SCAAP – Hillsborough is receiving federal grant funds from the Bureau of Justice for housing certain illegal immigrants in county jail facilities. For more information on any of these projects, contact the Community Services Program Manager at (813) 276-2549.

Looking Ahead Project – A project created through public/private partnerships with a multi-service design, having several program components, located at a “community” intercept.
