Welcome to the web page for the Special Dependent Districts. There are 46 special dependent districts in unincorporated Hillsborough County established by the Board of County Commissioners for the purpose of maintaining and improving public rights-of-way and property and common areas.
The information under this heading is to guide the trustees of the County’s 46 special dependent districts through the process of beginning the new fiscal year – FY 12. The new fiscal year begins October 1, 2011, but there actions each district needs to take either before or immediately after that date.
Proposed FY 13 Special Dependent District Budget Hearings
FY 12 Guide for Special Districts – Beginning the New Fiscal Year and Other Topics – Special district trustees and the public can download the booklet, FY 12 Guide for Special Districts – Beginning the New Fiscal Year and Other Topics. This is a very important booklet that each trustee should read. There are two different Adobe Acrobat versions of the booklet. One is for reading on the internet and the other is for printing as a double sided document on 8 ½ inch by 11 inch paper. Both files can be downloaded and saved to a computer.
You should also download and print the Checklist for Sending Documentation at the
Beginning of the Fiscal YearFY12BeginningChecklist.pdf to help guide you through what needs to done and deadline dates.
The general date for filing the documents is November 30, 2011.

Information Regarding FY 11 Financial Statements
If the district decides to not have its financial statement audited, it’s board of trustees must approve
this at a regular meeting before September 30, 2011. It must also send a first class letter using the
form letter below to each property owner and copying the Clerk of the Circuit Court and the
Business and Support Services Department (attention Mary Mahoney). The letter must be
postmarked no later than September 30, 2011. The district will also send the minutes of the
meeting where the board decided not to have the statement audited to the Clerk and Ms.
Mahoney.
Only districts with FY 11 revenue of less than $50,000 may opt to not have its financial statement
audited. A district with FY 11 revenue of $50,000 must submit an audited financial statement.

This part of the web page relates to the FY 12 Special Dependent District Budget Process.
There are 46 special dependent districts in unincorporated Hillsborough County
established by the Board of County Commissioners for the purpose of maintaining and
improving public rights-of-way and common areas.
The FY 12 Budget Preparation Guide and all the forms needed to submit a complete FY
12 budget package can be viewed and downloaded. Any member of the public can review
or download these files.
The complete FY 12 Budget Package is due to the Hillsborough County Business and
Support Services Department by close of business, June 13th.

A complete FY 12 Budget Package consists of the following documents. Those forms that
are underlined can be downloaded. Be sure to save downloaded forms to a computer.
Once the forms are completed, save your work and print out the forms for submission to
the County.

This will be updated as districts submit their budgets, County staff reviews them and the Board of County Commissioners approves them.
