Welcome to the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department (PRC). Our department is the "Heart of Hillsborough" with more than 70,000 acres of parkland;  42 year-round recreation centers offering activities and classes for all ages; therapeutic programs; youth and adult athletics;  and partnerships with community and civic organizations throughout the county.

PRC's dedicated, professional staff and devoted volunteers serve over 9 million residents annually. It's one of the largest departments of its kind in the Southeastern United States.

  • Alafia Challenge --- November 8th---The Alafia Challenge is a canoe and kayak race down the lower Alafia River, located in southern Hillsborough County, Florida. The race is from Lithia Springs county park to the Riverview Civic Center, a distance of about 11 miles. All of the tandem kayaks that we have available for rentals are now taken. Please do not try to register for this category if you cannot bring your own tandem kayak on race day.
