Alafia River Corridor   (PDF, 295KB)

Location: 931 Old Welcome Rd Lithia FL 33547 (Horse Trail)

Trail head for the hiking trail is at the north boundary of the Pinecrest Sports Complex (located on Hwy 39, approximately one mile north of Hwy 640). Trail head for the horse trail is located at the end of Old Welcome Rd, approximately one mile south of Hwy 640. Operating hours for the horse trail head are from 8:30AM - 5PM.

Please note that proof of a negative Coggins test is required (County Ordinance 08-17) and riders under the age of 16 must wear a helmet (County Ordinance 08-17).


Alafia River North Prong
Activities:

Location: A protected area of the Alafia River floodplain located east of SR 39 and Keysville Road.

Alafia Scrub Preserve   (PDF, 149KB)

Location: 10212 Gibsonton Drive Riverview FL 33569

Eighty acres of hammock, scrub, creeks, ravines, shoreline and tidal marsh on the Alafia River east of Interstate 75. A marked hiking trail leads to a scenic overlook. Enter at the walk-through gate located at the northwest corner of Gibsonton Drive and Hagadorn Roads; parking is on the road shoulder.


Alderman's Ford Preserve   (PDF, 354KB)

Location: 8911 Turkey Creek Rd Plant City 33567 (Hiking Trail)

Lands on either side of the Alafia River From Alderman's Ford Park westward between S.R. 39 and Lithia Pinecrest Road. Hiking trail parking is on Turkey Creek Road (hours 8AM - 4 PM).


Apollo Beach Nature Preserve
Activities:
Fishing, Nature Study, Parking, Picnicking, Public Access
Location: 6760 Surfside Blvd Apollo Beach 33572

Coastal wetland restoration areas, native upland plantings, picnic pavilions and shoreline. Operating hours are sunrise to sunset. An after hours fishing permit for the preserve is available for a fee at E.G. Simmons Park (813-671-7655).
