The Ombudsman's responsibilities as the department Ombudsman include providing assistance to citizens and citizens’ groups to facilitate the
flow of information between the permit applicants, interested or affected parties, and county permitting and management staff.
Investigation and conflict resolution of citizens’ complaints is an integral and critical part of Ombudsman's responsibilities. The Ombudsman
responds to inquiries and provides information about permits and review procedures, and investigates and facilitates resolutions to permitting issues.
Another part of Ombudsman’s job is assisting applicants and community groups in the permit process to help them understand county hearing and meeting
procedures and advising them on how to participate in the process.
