Building Services Division
Building Services is responsible
for reviewing and processing development project site plans, subdivision
plats, and building plans. It provides complete permitting services,
from processing the application, review and issuance of permits,
through inspections and certificates of occupancy. This division
also provides a central review and inspection point for new development
in the unincorporated area, including subdivisions, site development
plans, land excavations, land alteration and landscaping plans, phosphate
mining, concurrency determinations, other site development governed
by land development and building codes, and emergency management
planning.
The Emergency Management Planning section creates emergency
and disaster preparedness plans for the County in case of a natural
disaster or hurricane, catastrophic events, inland flooding and wind
hazard situations. The section also coordinates mitigation efforts
from effects of flooding with all of the county's municipalities,
in addition to undertaking projects that increase the county's standing
in the Florida Department of Community Affairs' Community Rating
System. This section's responsibilities include, maintaining the
Local Mitigation Strategy, ensuring the county implements minimum
standards from the National Flood Insurance Program, and ensuring
participation with federal and state governments through the federally-designed
Project Impact program.
The Site Plan and Subdivision Review Section is responsible for
reviewing plans and issuing permits for commercial and residential
site development projects as well as the processing of plats and
acceptance of new infrastructure. In addition, this Section reviews,
issues permits and conducts inspections for land alteration and landscaping,
land excavations and phosphate mining.
The Construction Services Section provides professional inspections
for all trades and disciplines required under permit in the County
including building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, gas and site
development as well as providing contractor licensing compliance
and enforcement. Inspections are performed by qualified professionals
from site preparation through Certificate of Occupancy.
The Permit Intake and Processing Section provides building associate
application intake, plan distribution, zoning and flood determinations,
single-family landscape permitting, project tracking and permit processing
and issuance. In addition, this section is responsible for electrical
and certificate of occupancy releases.
Satellite Offices are full service building associated permitting
offices in the different regions of the County outside of the Central
Office in the County Center in downtown Tampa. You can contact the
