On February 28, 2008 the Board of County Commissioners directed that
an evaluation of the economic development potential along the I-4
corridor be undertaken. Planning and Growth Management (PGM) Department
staff and
Hillsborough County City-County Planning Commission staff are working
together on the I-4 Economic Corridor Study (Corridor Study). Also
participating are the City of Tampa, the City of Plant City and
various agencies
that
have expertise in areas such as transportation, economic development,
and natural resource protection. The first phase of the Corridor
Study will include issue identification, land use analysis, environmental
resource
identification and infrastructure availability along the I-4 corridor
which extends approximately 26 miles between the City of Tampa
and Polk
County.
The Corridor Study will address an area 1-mile north and 1-mile
south of I-4. Meetings will be held with citizens to receive their
input on the future
of the I-4 corridor. This web page will provide documents and maps
to inform viewers of the study’s progress and inform citizens of future
activities. The I-4 Economic Corridor Study will be presented to
the Board of County
Commissioners in early 2009. |
