The County initiated a unique transportation planning study in November
2002 to identify rights-of-way for future roadways, utilities, trails
and public transit to meet the future needs of our community. This
county-wide Corridor Plan will also recommend ways to preserve these
corridors. The County will look beyond the typical planning horizon
of 20 years by looking at ways to preserve corridors that will meet
our community's needs over the next 50 years. When completed, the
Corridor Plan will ensure that adequate facilities will be available
to accommodate future growth before development occurs.
During the initial stages of the project, the County will collect a
significant amount of data for review and consideration. Several of
the County’s plans will be used as a framework to advance the
project. Various project tasks include the following:
- Review County's Comprehensive Plan and 2025 Needs Assessment Plan; use as a base
- Review previous work in Urban Services Areas and community based planning efforts
- Develop methodology to identify corridors
- Develop a model for build-out scenarios
- Identify quantitative and qualitative inputs for model
- Develop strategies forpreserving rights-of-way
- Document results
