The Historic Resources Review Board serves as the architectural review board for unincorporated Hillsborough County. Membership
requirements of the Board and its duties are specified in Hillsborough County's Land Development Code (section 9.03.04).
The Board's seven members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and represent a diverse group of professionals
and lay persons with knowledge in fields related to historic preservation.
Professional members include two architects, one archaeologist or anthropologist, one historian, and one planner or real
estate developer or real estate broker or landscape architect. Additionally, the regulations provide for the establishment
of subcommittees to carry out the Board's duties.
The subcommittees established under the Board's Rules of Procedure are the Design Review Committee (DRC) and the Landmark
Recommendation Committee (LRC). The DRC advises applicants informally concerning guidelines for new construction or
extensive alterations/additions to landmark sites. The LRC reviews potential sites for landmark designation and makes
recommendations to the Review Board regarding their eligibility. Please call or e-mail the Planning and Zoning staff at (813) 272-5920 or Contact Us for a list of current Board members.
