| The 25,000 square foot regional library has
an outstanding collection of works on paper, canvas and sculpture installed
throughout the library.
The Jan Kaminis Platt Library is the 22nd branch in the County's library system.
Located near the intersection of Manhattan and Euclid Avenues, the 25,000 square-foot
building is open seven days a week to serve the South Tampa community. It offers
a full range of library services including the Talking Book Library and a new
innovation, a drive-through window for pick-up of materials.
The library was named in honor of Jan Kaminis Platt, who
has served tirelessly in the community for 24 years as a Hillsborough
County Commissioner.
Among her many interests, Jan K. Platt is a fervent advocate for libraries
and the environment. She is the recipient of many awards, including Best Friend
of the Year from the Friends of the Library, and the 2000 Liberty Bell Award
from the Hillsborough County Bar Association. She serves on the Hillsborough
County Arts Council Board and initiated the important Tampa Bay Estuary Program
to protect the County's environment. |
